Peri-menopause and Menopause

Rock my menopause has some great resources, nicely written, which I often signpost patients to.

Menopause Doctor – a really useful site with loads of resources curated by Dr Louise Newson. They have also created the Balance app (see below) which I think is an incredibly useful tool for women to track symptoms prior to an appointment with a healthcare professional.

The Balance app – available at Google Play and on the App Store

For healthcare professionals, there is also a training package available on Fourteen Fish which is currently available free of charge. ‘Confidence in the Menopause’ is suitable for all and is definitely worth a look.

A really great site allowing you to weigh up the benefits and risks of HRT as well as treatment and follow up is Wellspring. It’s nicely designed and simple to use.

The British Menopause Society is another good resource, as is Menopause Matters. The BMS also has a patient facing website, Womens Health Concern , which has some really useful information.

The Peppy website offers support and tools for supporting colleagues in the workplace who have symptoms.

The Balance App website is the companion website to the app and again has some useful information.

The menopause charity has some useful information for both patients and healthcare professionals.

And finally, Dr Jen Gunter has the most brilliant SubStack publication called the Vajenda. Yes, it is written from a US perspective (where there is perhaps more influence from social media, quacks, and snake oil sales people), but she writes evidence based pragmatic articles which dispel a lot of the myths around hormone therapy and the menopause. Her recent article on weight gain is a really good read for those experiencing this.
